Layered Acrylic and Watercolor Painting

Gosh, it's been a while since I posted again. I haven't done much sculpting, but instead I've took up painting for a bit. For me, sculpting is a messy hobby so I figured painting would be a little neater. Boy, was I wrong. My room turned out just as messy or even messier than sculpting. I'm usually an organized person when it comes to family, bills, etc, but my art is a whole different story. I hate to stop when I'm creating which means there's no time for cleaning along the way. Engulfing myself in art allows me to momentarily forget about life's chaos. Creating is when I am free.

Snow White

I'm finally done with my Snow White piece and she is named Rising Death Snow White. I played upon the apple and part of the story when the poison takes over Snow White. The poison or the black is clearly emphasized throughout the entire piece. The piece is made out of creative paperclay and the base is the bottom of a wooden candle stick. I really enjoyed working on the piece a lot and hope to do more like her in the future.

Collaboration Doll

I am finally done with the collaboration doll between my mama and I. I almost canned this weird bug-like doll because the clay was giving me such difficulties. In the end I was happy that I kept going because I think she came out quite well. She is made up of Das air-dry clay, tibetan mohair hair, plastic cat eyes turned sideways, wood heart base, and cloth clothing. I did all the sculpting except for some help with the eyes from mama, but she picked all the colors for the entire doll. I think she's kinda gothic but mama doesn't think so, LOL. Through it all, it was a pleasure and honor to create a doll with such a special woman.
